Should I Stay
or Should I Go?

Have you ever wondered whether law is really the right career for you?

Have you had Saturday night drinks or Sunday brunch with friends who love their work and wondered if somehow you'd missed the boat on leading a satisfying career?

Maybe you talk yourself out of change with explanations like this:
  • I have a good (enough) job ,
  • I'm making good (enough) money, or
  • If I change things now, my spouse/mom/cat would be horribly disappointed in me!

On Wednesday, October 22 at 7:00 PM EST please join Monica Parker, J.D. (of LeavingTheLaw.com and author of The Unhappy Lawyer) and Julie Fleming-Brown, J.D., A.C.C. (of LifeAtTheBar.com and author of 5 Foundations of Time Mastery for Attorneys) as we talk about when to say when.

We'll have a no-holds-barred conversation in which we'll discuss:
  • How to know when it's the career that doesn't fit -- and what to do about it
  • How to know when it's your area of law or your firm or the way you approach practice that's giving you trouble -- and what to do about that, too
  • Concrete steps unhappy lawyers can take to make a change within or outside the law
At the end of this call, you will have a better idea about why you're not happy and what you could change to find more career satisfaction.

Register today to save your seat and get your answer to Should I Stay or Should I Go.  As usual, all registrants will receive an MP3 recording of the call, so sign up even if you can't join us live!

Monica R. Parker, J.D., helps unhappy lawyers find and pursue fulfilling work outside of the practice of law.  Through her company, LeavingTheLaw.com, Monica has created resources for lawyers who are ready to discover work they love and offers products, workshops, and individual coaching to guide lawyers toward achieving career satisfaction.

Prior to starting LeavingTheLaw.com, Monica practiced law for five years at two prestigious law firms in Atlanta, GA.  She also served as a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School, teaching a negotiation course, as well as an executive version of the course through the Program of Instruction for Lawyers at Harvard Law School.  In addition, Monica conducted negotiation training workshops in the U.S. and overseas.

Before law school, Monica developed film scripts for Spike Lee at 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks, and worked as an assistant manager for Winn Dixie, a Southeastern grocery store chain.  She earned a B.A. cum laude in English and American Literature from Harvard College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Monica is the author of The Unhappy Lawyer: A Roadmap To Finding Meaningful Work Outside Of The Law (Sourcebooks).  She can be reached at www.LeavingTheLaw.com.

Julie Fleming-Brown J.D., A.C.C. is a 1993 graduate of the Emory University School of Law.  Julie practiced law (primarily specializing in patent litigation) for over 10 years in several law firms including Jones Day, before founding Life at the Bar LLC in 2005.  She now provides attorney development coaching and consulting to law firm associates and partners, focusing on topics such as time management, client development, leadership development, professional development, career strategy, and work/life integration.  She publishes the weekly email newsletter Leadership Matters for Lawyers to support leadership development in the profession.
